Where's Kory?

I feel like I've been gone for months!  Don't worry, babies, Daddy's been here all along, right there in your little black hearts!

Actualy, for the past day and a half, I've been busy!  I'm planning something very cool and can't wait to share more about it with you!

In the meantime, I was workin' it at JoAnn, and noticed this:

Look at that!  3-packs of Mr. Holtz's perfect Distress Stains and Crackle Paints!  I've NEVER seen these packaged this way!  I was so excited that they almost had to call for a wet-cleanup in the papercraft aisle.

Meanwhile, I'm suffering through an insane time at work.  And Oklahoma's crazy weather is playing dirty, evil games with my sinuses.  The only thing crazier than Oklahoma City's weather is our people.  This week, a 76 year old man was arrested for running a PORNO THEATRE out of his HOUSE.  Now, I'd heard rumors about the place's existence.  Luckily, I didn't think it would be HILARIOUS to get drunk with a bunch of friends and go check it out- and then end up arrested, too.   One time, me and Holly got loaded and thought it would be HILARIOUS to go apply for jobs at an, um, 'Adult Toy Store.'  Well, the people there didn't think it was hilarious and they called the police on us.  What does this have to do with scrapbooking?  I don't know, you tell me.

I'll be back later with more fun!  Stay tuned!

Sketchaday!

It's 11:19am, I can still say GOOD MORNING!

I'm preparing for the Grand Opening celebration at the NEW JOANN in the morning.  Yeahp, that's right.  Tomorrow morning.  I will be lining up bright and early, with my good friend, the infamous HOLLY BUSCH, in hopes of being one of the first 100, to get a 10.00 gift card.  We had good hopes that it wouldn't be any problem.  But then The Consumer Queen posted it on her blog...  So, it might be a battle.  A battle fought early, very early, in the morning.  Which makes me start to question myself, is it really work getting up early, on a day off from work (yes, I took a vacation day for such an auspicious event) just to get a gift card for only ten dollars?  Yes, I've decided- it is worth it- because they also have 50% off coupons, which means I can get a twenty dollar item FOR FREE.

I have hopes that there will be plenty of characters to photograph, with which I can build a hilarious blog post around- so I'm taking my camera.  In the meantime, I've made a new sketch.  This is made especially for the great and powerful Henri.  Enjoy!

Couponathon!

This week's sale highlights:
50% off coupon at Michaels!
The regular 40% off at da HobLobs.
40% one regular item at JOANN, plus some random sewing coupons- however, if you are in the OKC area, the new location has 50% coupons for each day of the Grand Opening, this Thursday, Friday and Saturday, as well as a 10.00 gift card to the first 100 people each day. Arrive early, first come, best dressed, all that...

As much as I want to complain about Mondays, they can have their light and bright moments.  One of my favorite 'Monday Moments?'  (And can I ever stop thinking up little catchy names for things? No.  Probably not.  Sorry.)

My favorite 'Monday Moment' happens before 8am.  Every Monday.  I settle into my cubicle with a cup of coffee and moments later, my boss walks through the door.  Most people might not like to see their boss walk through the door.  But I love her.  She looks a bit like Joan Collins in her Dynasty days, with the withering glare to back the look up.  She's also hysterically funny and both gets and enjoys my sense of humor.  I can't ever think about quitting because I can't leave my boss.  So, what happens when she walks in the door?  She throws the HOBBY LOBBY and MICHAELS newspaper ads/circulars onto my desk.

And then I clip out my coupons.

Yes, I do have all the apps on my phone.  The Michaels app.  The Joann's app.  And I have the Hobby Lobby coupon webpage saved as a bookmark on my phone's screen.  But they tend to be a bit slow- especially the Michaels app.  I have to start loading it about the time I reach fourth in line to the cashier.  There's never a short line at Michael's.

But I love my paper coupons.  They're convenient.  I like having a wallet full of them.  I also like having extras.  If the app is working, I use it and give the paper coupon to whoever looks the nicest in line behind me.  And by 'looks the nicest,' I don't mean 'the most attractive.'  I mean the one that looks to be, or is, the most polite.  That means someone who isn't yapping into their cell phone or complaining about one thing or another or or or....

Because if I make life better by sharing my coupons, maybe that will assuage my guilt over not recycling my wine bottles.  I do try to remember the recycling bin, I really do.

SALE ALERT!

The 'new' JOANN's GRAND OPENING!

Yes, the 'NEW' JOANN that I mentioned the other day or so, at NW EXPWY and ROCKWELL is having her GRAND OPENING shiny good time happy party this **NEXT** WEEKEND! It begins THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 16 and continues until SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 17!  **note: I excitedly/mistakenly read the dates as being THIS weekend- but it is NEXT weekend!  Which is even better- that's my payday weekend!

When I went in last Sunday, they gave me a sheet of coupons for 50% off one item for EACH day of the weekend.  Which, really- I gotta go ALL three days?  Okay, twist my arm.  50% off!

ALSO- for anyone in the OKC area- the first 100 shoppers each day get a 10.00 gift card.  So, that means- with my 50% off coupon AND if I'm one of the first 100, I can get a 20.00 item for FREE.  This is IF they don't put ALL scrapbooking items 10%, causing your 50% off coupon to be useless, tho-

Let me know if you're in the area and want to meet it up at JOANN's on Saturday morning.  You can bring coffee and I'll bring .. I don't know.  I'll think of somethin'.   ;-)

PayDay FriDay!

Oh, hi!

One of my favorite holidays is, definitely, PAY-DAY FRIDAY.   Sometimes abbreviated as PDPF- which isn't really shorter to say, but is a heap of fun to say!  Sometimes I format the spelling differ-oh, anyways-  So-

"WHAT IS PAYDAY FRIDAY?"

Oh come on, you know what it!  It's that special, magical holiday that occurs whenever you get paid!  Whether it's a biweekly holiday, like mine- or a monthly holiday for a government employee, or just whenever the money gets thrown on the dresser as your, um, 'employer' finishes getting dressed to head home to his wife-  THAT, my friends, is PAYDAY FRIDAY!

How do I celebrate this glorious day?  With shopping binges at my favorite crafting meccas:  Hobby Lobby!  Hobby Lobby Outlet! Micheals!  Home Depot!  Byron's Liquor Warehouse!

I went a bit overboard, this weekend.  I began at the Hobby Lobby outlet, which is actually called BASKET MARKET- but I still just call it the HL OUTLET, cuz, that's what it is...  More on this trip, later but soon, because that's my upcoming SURRRRPRIZE!

One of the highlights of my weekend was visiting the newly opened JOANN, at Northwest Expressway and Rockwell, here in beautiful OKC.  Our former Joann was 'down the street.'  It was one of those 'antique' Joanns- with barely room for a sad fabric collection and a few sadder pads of DCWV paper packs...  The 'NEW' Joann, I'm excited to note, is large and in charge!

When I spotted all the fully stocked shelves, I think I gasped a little-  but when I saw all of Mr. Holtz's dies and texture fade embossing packs- WOW!  My eyes lit up like a methhead finding a crate of Sudafed!

And, as usual, my insane rationalizing crafter's mind took over.  Some people will say, "Well, since I'm buying this die, I will wait until next PAYDAY FRIDAY to buy this nice embossing folder..."

My mind says, "If you're going to spend 20.00, you might as well spend 40.00!"  Yeahp, my little internal BAD IDEA BEARS were running on overdrive!   See the photo of that shopping haul?    Please don't surprise me with a televised intervention.

Coming soon:  The NEXT EXCITING EPISODE of KORY K's PAINT CHIP PARTY!
